This can be a busy time of year for the owners of beach huts. A large majority of beach huts in the United Kingdom are taken away for safekeeping in the Winter months to protect them from storms and other harsh elements. It is around this time when the huts are brought back in readiness for the warmer weather. As well as being a busy time it is also an exciting time as the owners get to decide what to put inside the beach hut including what to hang on the walls.
The framing options for beach huts
When thinking about what types of frames to hang in the beach hut, if any, the most obvious consideration is that of size. We do not have a lot of room to play with. Smaller frames are, therefore, the usual go-to option. As beach huts tend to be near the sea and beaches, many people like to frame photos of the nearby location in a rustic picture frame to complement the beachy feel.
Vintage beach posters and advertisements printed and framed are another popular option and are often viewed with fondness, especially by those who are old enough to remember when they were originally printed. They are often a good conversational starter when people notice them hanging up. Comments like “That takes me back”, and “That makes me feel old” or “Where did you manage to buy the poster from?” are quite common. Who doesn’t like a bit of nostalgia?
Multi-photo frames are a great option as they enable you to display multiple photos together. When space is limited, to be able to do this is most welcome. You are able to choose different configurations from the smaller 2-aperture multi-photo frame right up to the must larger 25-aperture, all within one frame. The frames are designed to fit a wide range of standard photo sizes. It is then a case of deciding what photos to include. You could go with one of the family and even the dogs having fun at the seaside, or a family get-together at the beach hut which included Gran and Grandad. It could be photos from a beach-themed birthday party that you organised for one of your children. The options are, of course, endless, with the decision being one of personal preference.
A lot of the beach huts that I walk past frame and display different coastal sayings such as “The beach is my happy place”, “Sun above me, sand beneath me, salty air around me”, “May you always have shells in your pocket and sand between your toes”, “Seas the day”, “A little sand between the toes always takes away the woes”, “Beach hair, don’t care”, “Let the sea set you free” and “Oh I do like to be beside the seaside”. There are many more but these are some of my favourites.
Hanging picture frames when there is a lack of space just requires a little creativity.
