This summer has already been a record breaker in terms of temperatures. You could be forgiven for thinking you are in Cyprus, Spain or Portugal, to name just a few of the countries that you would normally associate with this type of weather in the month of June.

We have been enjoying plenty of hot, sunny days here in the UK in recent weeks; some would go as far as to say it’s been too hot and humid. The summer has certainly started with a bang weather-wise, and it seems from what the reports say that we have plenty more fine days to come. During these periods, people tend to spend a lot more time outdoors, for obvious reasons.

Have you ever sorted through some of your old photos, excitedly looking for the ideal ones to frame, perhaps it’s for a gift or simply to display on your own walls, you have an idea of what you are looking for, but then things take a turn for the worse after you find them and notice that they are damaged? I guess that most of us have at some point in the past.

We all know the areas of our property where it's suitable to hang a picture frame, whether it be the living room, our bedroom, the kitchen, or the dining room. But what about rooms or areas of our property where it's not suitable to hang picture frames? Are there any, or are we able to simply hang picture frames wherever we want to in a manner which won't negatively impact them?

For those of you who enjoy reading interior design blogs or wandering around contemporary art galleries, you are likely to have noticed just how popular canvas floating frames are at the moment. In reality, this isn’t something that has happened overnight; they have been in vogue for some time now, and it looks likely to continue for the foreseeable future.

What is all the fuss about, and why are people so interested in them?

It can be easy to focus on taking the near-perfect photograph, or finding a top-notch piece of artwork, or choosing an impressive print that you feel will look fantastic in your home. But what about the picture frame? This is not something that should be an afterthought, as the right frame can make the difference between enabling that photo, artwork or print from either becoming a shining focal point or something that looks slightly out of place.

We have recently been fortunate to enjoy a prolonged spell of hot weather with plenty of sunny periods. The fact that it continued into the Bank Holiday weekend was very much welcomed by most people. For those who are interested in photography, seeing so much of the sun throughout the day can lead to certain challenges when attempting to obtain the best possible shots.

When thinking about what to buy as a present for a grandparent, it can often be quite tricky to come up with something decent. Of course, you know them very well, and it’s not as though you’re unaware of their hobbies or interests. It’s simply that they often have everything they need or want, or they’ll buy it themselves whenever the time arises.

One of the things that I really enjoy about photography is capturing everyday moments in real time. Some of these images could be as simple as taking a photo of raindrops on the window, or of an interesting shadow on the wall, or of my daughter’s face as she opens her birthday presents, or of my dog sleeping in his bed. A few of these images can soon become some of my favourites in my photo collection.

There are times when housing just one photograph in a picture frame isn’t enough. Take, for example, if you have a newborn in the family and you want to remember and document how they progress and develop throughout the first year of their life.
