FAQ – Ordering a Picture Frame Without a Mount
Can I order a frame without a mount?
Yes! We offer frames that can be purchased without a mount. Simply choose the option “Frame only” when selecting your size and style.
How do I measure my artwork for a frame without a mount?
Measure the exact width and height of your artwork. Make sure to measure at the edges and provide these dimensions when placing your order so the frame fits perfectly. For more advice, please see our How to Measure Your Artwork for a Picture Frame page.
Can I have a stand back on my frame?
Most of our picture frames are designed for hanging only. We can fit a stand back to frames up to an internal measurement of 10" x 12" (254mm x 305mm), but you’ll need to request this in the special instructions when placing your order.
Will the frame protect my artwork without a mount?
Yes, each frame includes high-quality backing and glazing (acrylic or glass) to protect your artwork. However, using a mount can provide extra protection and prevent the artwork from touching the glazing. For glossy prints or photos, we recommend using a mount to stop the print sticking to the glazing over time.
Can I add a mount later if I change my mind?
Yes! You can order a mount separately — just ensure the outside dimensions match the internal size of your frame. Alternatively, you can choose our Frame and Mount option to order both together.
How long will it take to receive a frame without a mount?
Our standard lead time is 3–5 working days, depending on frame size and style. Larger or custom frames may take slightly longer.
Do you offer custom sizes for frames without a mount?
Yes, every frame can be made to your exact specifications. Simply provide your dimensions when ordering and we’ll create a made-to-measure picture frame for your artwork.

Every frame is custom-sized to your chosen artwork dimensions and comes without a mount, featuring a 2.5mm MDF backing board, hanging fixings, and cord, ready to display in portrait or landscape orientation. Our custom photo frames are available with three professional acrylic glazing options: clear for standard display, anti-glare for reducing reflections, and UV protective to guard against fading.
