When I was growing up and even up to only a few years ago photography, at least in the UK, was only a hobby for those lucky enough to own a camera. And of those people, it was usually only those with a fairly decent camera that would continue with the hobby. There were still many, perhaps around five per cent of the population. Fast forward to today and that number has massively increased due to the smartphone. Every person who has a smartphone is now able to fully enjoy photography as a hobby as the camera function on the phone is of a high enough quality. But how do you fully maximise this hobby to enable you to make the most out of the incredible images you will no doubt shoot?
Ways to maximise your hobby of mobile photography
When first opening up and unboxing your new smartphone it can be rather exciting to see the amazing features and capabilities it has. It seems like with every new edition they become more and more advanced which only adds to the excitement. This is most certainly true when it comes to the camera of the smartphone. It can take time to navigate through all of the camera settings and to become familiar with how everything works.
A great way to learn and improve is via trial and error. By taking plenty of photographs whether inside your home or outside and by using different formats and settings you will soon improve. Before you know it, you will be taking some truly awesome photographs which you will no doubt be proud of. Plus, you will be having a lot of fun doing so.
It is easy, as is the way these days, to share these images via text or WhatsApp, and to post them online on your social media pages. This enables other people to see the amazing images that you have taken and to also enjoy them. There is only one issue with sharing your photographs in this way and that is they soon become lost in the crowd. Within one or two days, and possibly even less time, people move on to the next conversation or online post. Your incredible images can soon be forgotten.
The way around this is to regularly upload your favourite photographs from your phone to print and frame. Once doing so you can then hang them on the walls of your house so that people are able to continue to view them for the days and weeks ahead. Every now and again you can change the photo in the frame to a more recent one you have taken or can simply hang an additional frame on the wall.
Just because the camera function on the smartphone has become much better in recent years doesn’t mean that all of the photographs that you take need to stay within the confines and storage of the phone. Bring these images to life by printing and framing them to enable you and others to enjoy them to the full.
