Our image editing tools are designed to help you make the best of your images. Usually this is only needed to crop your image, brighten or darken an image, or to give your image a little punch. Please use with caution bearing in mind that due to variations in colours rendered on a computer, laptop, tablet, and mobile screens, we cannot guarantee that colours shown here are truly representative of the final printed image, therefore we cannot be held responsible if your image prints out slightly darker or lighter than the colours rendered on the device you use to upload your photo.
Basic controls
Convert to greyscale (Black & White): Convert the image to black and white. This is the preferred method for creating a black and white image. It usually produces better results than simply setting the Saturation to -100.
Brightness: Simple brightness adjustment. Range -100 to 100.
Contrast: Increases or decreases the color contrast of the image. Range -100 to 100. This is a little sensitive. Sane values are around 5-10 in either direction.
Saturation: Adjusts the color saturation of the image. Range -100 to 100. If the colours in your image look a little garish or dull you can adjust the colour saturation using this tool.
Vibrance: Range -100 to 100. Similar to saturation, but adjusts the saturation levels in a slightly smarter, more subtle way. Vibrance will boost colors that are less saturated more and boost already saturated colors less, while saturation boosts all colors by the same level.
Exposure: Simple exposure adjustment. Range -100 to 100. This might produce better results than the Brightness tool.
Gamma: Lets you adjust the gamma of the image. Range 10 to 0. Adjusts the midtones of the image. Values greater than 1 make dark regions lighter, while values less than 1 make shadows darker.
Hue: Adjusts the hue of the image. Range 0 to 100. It can be used to shift the colors in an image in a uniform fashion. Can be used for creative effects.
Sepia: Applies an adjustable sepia effect to the image. Range is from 0 to 100. The larger the value, the stronger the sepia effect.
Filters
Vignette: Darkens the corners and sides of the image. Vignetting in photograpy is usually undesired, but it can be added for creative effect or to draw attention to the centre of the image. You can adjust the size and strength of the vignette, both within the range 0 to 100.
Colourize: Uniformly shifts the colors in an image towards the chosen color. The adjustment range is from 0 to 100. The higher the value, the closer the colors in the image shift towards the given adjustment color. This can be used for creative effect, for example it could be used to create a collage of differently colourized versions of the same image.
Advanced controls
Curves: Curves is a very powerful image editing tool. This version works in a similar way to the curves tools in Adobe Photoshop and other image editing applications. The line on the graph is a bezier curve and the blobs are its control points. Drag the blobs around to see the effect it has on the image. The triangles can be used to move the end points of the curve. You can do this for each of the three colour channels (red, green and blue) or for all channels (RGB) which affects all three channels equally. Try the examples to get a feel for how it works and if you want to get serious about your image editing, google "photoshop curves" to learn more.
Levels: Levels is a very powerful image editing tool. This version works in a similar way to the levels tools in Adobe Photoshop and other image editing applications.
Channels: Channels is a very powerful image editing tool. For more information on using channels, google "How to use Channels in Photoshop" to learn more.
