  • joybrealey's Blog

For a couple that has reached the point in their life and their relationship when they are ready to become parents, it can be an exhilarating time. This whole period can see one feel a large range of emotions. At the outset, it’s all extremely exciting. For many people, this is what they may have wanted for a long time, but they just haven’t been in the right place until now. The thought of becoming a mum or a dad with all the responsibilities that brings can also be a little scary for some. Am I up to the task is a question that many a parent-to-be has asked. When couples have been trying for a baby without success for many months the emotion of frustration can rear its ugly head. As can jealousy as you hear about other women in your circle announcing that they are pregnant. The thrill of finding out you or your partner is pregnant, especially for the first time, is like no other. It has finally happened, and your life has now truly started, and it will never be the same, but in a good way. It is now time to fully embrace the next nine months of pregnancy and to plan for when the baby is born.

Protecting a baby scan photo for the long-term

After going through that rollercoaster of emotions of deciding the time is right to either start a family or to have an additional child, the potential fear of it all, and the waiting to fall pregnant, it all soon becomes real after going for the first scan. And the first baby scan photo is one that you can’t wait to share with family and friends. Any negative emotions such as fear and frustration are firmly put behind you at this time as you continue to marvel at this incredible image in the photo. Your friends and family can’t help but also get caught up in your ecstatic state, and they are usually thrilled for you. What you also want to do is to preserve the original print version of this baby scan photo for many years to come. This is not only for your benefit but also for the benefit of the baby. They will no doubt want to view the photo at many different periods in the future, as will you.

Framing the baby scan photo is likely the best way to preserve it. This is much better than simply leaving the photo in a box in the loft for example. You may think that you’d never do such a thing, but many people do. Placing the photo in a quality picture frame is a much better option. A frame with UV-protective glass is best as this will shield the photo from harmful sunlight. To protect the photo from moisture and dust it is prudent to choose a picture frame that has a sturdy back. It is best to avoid hanging the picture frame on any wall where condensation might occur. Moving forward it is beneficial to regularly check that no moisture or damage is affecting the scan and to clean the frame and glass carefully with a lightly damp cloth.
